Recipe ~ grandma's pastadish

Today I wanted to share a little recipe. As the title suggests my grandmother used to make this dish for us when we were little. It's supposed to be an Indonesian dish, but that's kind of questionable since all the ingredients are more Italic... anyway I'm making this an one-person-dish since I only eat this when my boyfriend isn't here (it's not his kind of dish) and since I'm a student and all.. it's just handy.
When my grandmother died, the family made a little book with some of her famous recipes. She just loved to cook! In the recipes there aren't many measurements.. she just did what she thought would taste good. So I have to do the same here ^_^

This is the book with her recipes. Also with pictures of us when we were little :)

Let's start with the ingredients:
- pasta (penne works best)
- cheese (grated, old = more flavor)
- ham
- 1 egg
- milk
- Parmesan cheese
- salt, pepper and nutmeg

- glass bowl for in the oven
- mixing bowl

We always used hollow spaghetti for this dish, but now they don't sell it anymore in here..
Penne is a nice substitute.
You can fill the glass bowl to see how much pasta you're gonna need. Don't fill it to the top, keep in mind it will expand well boiled.

1. Cook your pasta according to the package and preheat the oven on 220 degrees Celsius.

2. Meanwhile, mix the egg and 2-3 tablespoons of milk in a large mixing bowl

3. Add a generous amount of salt and pepper, along with a pinch of nutmeg.

4. Add your grated cheese till the mixture looks like this.

5. Next, slice your ham in squares. You can also use thicker ham slices to create dices for more texture. Add these also to the egg-cheese mixture.

6. By now your pasta is probably cooked, drain it and add it to the mixture. Give it a good stir.

7. Put all of it into the glass bowl and cover it with Parmesan cheese for a nice crust. You can also use breadcrumbs if you feel it's too much cheese ;)

8. Cover it with a lid, or if your bowl doesn't have a lid, with some aluminum foil.
Pop it in the oven like this for about 15 minutes. Remove the foil and put it back for 5-7 minutes to create the crust.

And you're done!
Bon appetit ^_^
